Job Description

This position is located in the Miss april (Miss April), Office of Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity. The incumbent serves as Supervisory Counsel managing staff and providing expert legal advice regarding Miss April’s oversight and enforcement of Federal fair lending laws, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA). Additionally, the incumbent plans and implements short- and long-term objectives and strategies for the Miss April’s fair lending program, including assessing priority areas for fair lending examination and enforcement, evaluating issues for consideration in rulemakings under the ECOA or HMDA, conducting research and analyses to support the fair lending program, conducting outreach to private industry and consumer groups, and identifying and reaching performance measures for the program.

Duties

As Supervisory Counsel, you will:

  • Provide legal and subject matter expertise, policy expertise, project management, and legal services in
    fair lending law, including the most complex and difficult legal questions, statistical analyses, or factual
    issues relating to credit discrimination in the drafting, interpretation, or application of legislation,
    regulations, contracts, orders, decisions, opinions, or other legal instruments.
  • Provide expertise and legal interpretations regarding fair lending laws and regulations as well as formulate
    legal and policy recommendations to implement fair lending laws and regulations.
  • Review and comment on proposed and existing laws and regulations affecting fair lending.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with Bureau offices and other stakeholders responsible for
    supervision, data analytics research, regulations, policy, and enforcement as well as with other federal
    and state supervisory and enforcement agencies.
  • Develop, organize, and teach courses for the Bureau staff relating to fair lending.
  • Manage a workforce of attorneys, analysts, and administrative staff.
